PRIVATE GEOGRAPHIES
(2018-2020)

investigates both the physical and mental landscapes. The physical landscape, or what we can see, provides the mental landscape with a sort of topographical map. This map enables the viewer to discover a place both as it is and as it appears. These photographs represent our constant inhabitation of these two landscapes - traveling back and forth, or being in both places at once. The mental landscape is home of thoughts that can be distinct or obscure, simple or complex, but they can never exist as singular entities. They are continuously being altered by the presence of other sensations, memories, or surroundings. This constant motion is represented here using the stillness and totality of photography. We are witnessing a static, authoritative medium that generates fluid, uninhibited cognitive motion.
